Can someone please help before I cry!?

I'm trying to set up a talktalk wired broadband connection to wireless via a sitecom router.
Now i've got this far.......connected the router to the modem via ethernet cable, laptop picks up wireless signal (strength excellent) but wont connect to internet? It says a network cable is unplugged. So...... can I reconfigure anything to establish connection or does the router I'm using have to be connected to a main PC first to get internet connection?
Router is sitecom model WL-025, modem is a basic talktalk model? (can't see any model no on it?)
Any help gratefully received (in the simplist of terms!
) as tearing hair out!
(Oh and no manual for router, sister was given it and told it would just plug in and work! She's mistakenly under the impression i'm some sort of expert 'cos I removed a virus once! :rotfl:)

Thanks, I had a clever moment just after I hit post and googled the manual!:rotfl:
So if I set it up as per the manual, will it work without being connected to a main PC (is that just for set up purposes?) Its just that I've only had a quick glance at quick install guide online and it has diagrams of router connected to PC via cable? She only has laptop and sons xbox hence wanting wireless in the first place. Don't know why she just didn't get wireless modem instead of the one she has!**************************************

once set up there is no need to have it connected to a pc, indeed, setup can be carried out wirelessly, but I always prefer wiredUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0
