in Credit cards
I bought a multi trip ticket with Speed Ferries back in April valid for two years
They are now in Administration! as from today
I have not used any of tickets, can I still claim under section 75 of the credit card act or is there a time limit of 3 months from the time of purchase to claim?

The following appears on the Speedferries web page from Ernst and Young (I have also sent an e:nquiry direct to E&Y, but expect to get referred to the following.):
Notice to all Customers: Speedferries Limited (in Administration)
The affairs, business and property of the Company are being managed by the Joint Administrators, A Swarbrick and T Burton, who act as agents of the Company only and without personal liability.
Customers
Crossings have been cancelled for 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 November 2008 and customers are asked to wait for further information on future crossings and to keep any pre-booked tickets.
We will continue to keep you updated with developments in respect of the long term plans for Speedferries and notify you as soon as possible via the Company website if changes are proposed to be made which will affect your current position.
For further enquiries please contact customer services on 0871 222 7456 or refer to previous statements.

However, the issue could be that there is a time limit on the use of these tickets, and that, in my view, if there is no hope of reasonably being able to take advantage before the expiry, which is the tack I shall be taking. One cannot be expected to cram journeys into a short timeframe just to use them up within the terms.0 -
Speedferries has closed and the administrator are advising seeking alternative crossing sna d also say to contact your CREDIT card for a refund. (dispute the item as goods not received) It's only credit cards covered by this clause, and debit cards are not covered. But do it quickly.0

I suspect that I have shot myself in the foot here, but I thought I would post this to see if any member can suggest a solution or confirm that I have lost this money.
Like mateyboy, I purchased a multitrip deal with Speedferries in Nov 07, valid for 2 years, and paid by credit card. To date, I have used 2 of the 10 vouchers. Unfortunately, shortly after completing this transaction I had a disagreement with the Credit Card company, and cancelled my card in disgust !0 -

Make a claim on your credit card company regardless. At the time of the transaction you had a valid contractual relationship with them0 -
Got a message from my credit card today saying I'm out of time to claim on my Speedferries vouchers. I have replied saying this is not satisfactory and Speedferries themselves cancelled the booking I had actually been able to make.0

Has anyone managed to get a Speedferries refund from their credit card company? I bought 10 crossings for £250 just before they collapsed in November, and am about to claim it back.
Has anyone been told this is 10 separate transactions of £25 each, so not eligible for refund?0 -
In answer to my own question, so far: contacted MBNA, my credit card company, and they have referred me to my bank's "dispute department" (A&L) which is closed until Monday. MBNA were aware of the Speedferries problem and said "we've got an email about it...I'll just read it...." so we must all be starting to claim. No hint about how the claims were going.0

Well, to answer my own question again, in case it is useful to anyone else, I rang the free phone number and without the slightest problem or argument the £250 is to be credited back to my card in a couple of weeks, and they will telephone to say exactly when this happens.
No mention at all of each ticket being a separate transaction so no refund.0 -
Has anyone sucessfully obtained a refund for the above yet from their credit card company? I have a complete book of 6 tickets which cost £180, I have applied to my company Egg but have heard nothing.0

Hi RubyLorelei
I have just been refunded by Egg. In addition I had canceled my Egg Card a few months after the purchase. However, I wrote to them and asked for the forms to make a claim in which I clearly explained the situation - I had used four of the ten trips - my credit card was no longer active. I filled out the form required plus copies of the Speedferry vouchers and received a letter less than two weeks later ( over Christmas ) saying that the full refund plus a few pence interest were in my ( now re-instated ) card account. Full marks to Egg for their fast and efficient refund service. I hope that they are able to make some claim on Speedferries assets ( I am not at all bitter- just sorry - about Speedferries collapse ) because situations like this will put a huge liability on the credit card industry which - in the main - do a good job.
Best of luck MartynF0
