It's a laptop. It doesn't make a jot of difference whether it's got AMD, Intel or whether it's a Celeron or not.

For once, the advice in the stores was spot on. Unless you're going to be doing high end gaming or ripping DVDs to the hard drive, the processor makes diddly squat difference. It won't speed up web browsing, how fast you type a letter up or how fast your email is.

I'm using a laptop with a processor that was superceded 2 years ago. It's running Vista and running everything I chuck at it with the exception of top end 3D games.

Conor's spot-on with that last post....just because there's newer stuff out there, doesn't mean the older stuff is instantly no good. E.g. I've just got my kids refurb laptops for xmas, Celeron 1.4GHz, 1GB RAM and XPpro...fired them up to load the security suites onto them and they fairly zip along....fresh installs of OS and no carp added...but perfectly adequate for browsing, online RPGs and schoolwork :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
