What a crock of sh*t. I've yet to see any widespread evidence that women in identical roles to men are paid any less.

If they want earnings to level out between both sexes, then they'll have to force women to permanently avoid motherhood and more frequent part-time employment, to instead take on more demanding roles, work longer hours and shake-off genetic differences to gain a more competitive, ruthless streak. Basically, they'd have to become men.

Like I said. Crock of sh*t.

  • Right. So your anecdotal evidence stands up better than serious research. Hmmm.

The article doesn't say that. (Although undoubtedly in some instances it may be true)

The rest of your comments are valid though - the reasons why women are often in lower paid roles than men or work less etc.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

I'm not using my own anecdotal evidence. I'm using the lack evidence shown each and every time this sort of report comes out, which is that of women women in identical jobs to men are earning 17% less. That's for them to prove - and they can't. There's a total disregard for genetically inherent differences of both a physical (motherhood) and mental (e.g. ambition) nature. It's complete BS.

im confused by the report it seems to say that men earn £32k a year on average and women close to £27k

yet everyone on this forum seems to say average earnings (for both men and women) are about £24k

how many mixed sex people are there?

and how come no ones writing about them earning so much less than everyone else

    that really is sexist :D

Women don't need to work to get a house. They just get hubby to slog away at the office, quick divorce as the 'wronged woman' and she's got the house for free.

Wow, although I tend to disagree with the report. you come across as somewhat bitter about something.

The average figure now stands at £26,020.

The figures you are quoting does not take into account the P-T element.

The difference is at the high and low ends. More very high paying executive jobs are done by men and more woman work in non career, lower paid jobs, so therefore the average for men is higher.

That doesn't mean woman are losing out, or a woman will get less for doing the same job. A woman would get the same if she was doing the same job. On average, she doesn't.
