That looks promising - so amounts to 10,000 emails a day from the 14th November, so leaves 130,000 accounts out of the 230,000

This is wrong. The figure for 2nd emails quoted by all other papers (Times, Telegraph etc) is 10,000 sent last week as a trial run.0 -
TBH I reckon the papers just make up their own figures.0

The FSCS state on their website that they sent out 50,000 emails up to yesterday, only another 180,000 or so to go and I hope I'm one of them.0

Actually there was a press release with a Sunday 16th embargo. I found the text on a PDF file somewhere this evening. The figures of 10,000 emails and £250million are the FSCS' own.
I thought there had to be a release somewhere as the phraseology in all the papers was strikingly similar.
It is interesting that tonight on their website the FSCS quickly suppressed the new 50,000 email figure (which may be correct as of today) and merely increased the compensation figure to £0.5 billion to include today. Something does not add up here......0 -
On " Lunch Working" today (17th November 2008) it was mentioned that the Icelandic Goverment confirmed that it would refund all "Icesave" customers who are out of pocket, in the hope that they (Icelandic Goverment) may have a loan from the British Goverment.
What the hell does this all mean??
If you down load "I Player" and look for "Working Lunch" B.B.C 2 you will be able to listen to the report. It is half way through the programme.0 -
Should read "Working Lunch"0

Iceland want a loan from the IMF. UK, Netherlands (&?Germany) want this to be conditional on them paying the nx £18ks of savers finds that they previously refused to do (rather than HM Treasury covering it) . Iceland have agreed to this today.0
