This is the prinking tool I use, you can see against the penny the scale of it. You can use one of those pins with a bead on, it's a bit more fiddly to handle but it works if thats all you have got. I don't use a special mat I just have a piece of dense sponge from a packing box. Maybe something like a polystyrene tile would suffice.
The butterfly pattern is really easy even if you haven't done one before. I use one thread of DMC or Anchor and the shaded threads are lovely for flowers and butterflies.

Rainmac I have 2 more ideas for your mums card if you would like them.

Mary, Rusty and Hels why don't you have a go, they really are easy and very effective. The backing paper is Basic Grey (again) Sultry.

Brilliant, thank you. I've ordered a smaller one than the one I have as my fingers are very clumsy and I can see myself doing serious damage with a pin ;) I would love the other ideas if you don't mind sharing, thank you very much. I had a look through the stitching website you posted and there are loads of fantastic designs on there. I love the beer glasses!

flourgirl - might try that out once I've finished the cross stitch tea cup.
Saw somewhere, can't remember where, a winnie the pooh picture done in a sort of back stitch - anyone know anything about it ? Would love to have a go at that for baby grandsons birthday card

Lovely to have a craft site and it looks really good -but hope everyone doesn't disappear never to be seen here again_pale_

My goodness, there's been a lot of posts since my last visit.

I love all the cards, the ones posted on the site, and the ones in the blogs.

Butterfly card - I suppose you need practice with that thread, it looks scary to me. Reminds me of those paper shapes you can get that you wind the thread from corner to corner, I found that difficult.

I'll be checking out that new forum too.

Mary43 - I love tidying crafts, only trouble is that there is always so much more than I ever imagined. Do you find that too?

All the best for your birthday Melissa.

oh my word, I see a few people were up till the small hours watching QVC lol, I went to bed at about 10 lol

the wife your 60th card is Gorgeous! the glitter on the 60 looks wonderful, very well done :)

    Happy birthday to melissa!!

dragonllew lovely cards on your blog, have left you some comments :)

CT - good to see you back, I Was beginnig to wonder where you'd got to! fabulous cards from you, that purple satiny ribbin is just to die for! I bet your friend was very impressed ;)

flourgirl that stitched butterfly is beautiful, and the way you've matched the backing papers and ribbon is just right, it all matches so perfectly!
poppy - have a good day in newcastle, be sure to let us know what you pick up!

I reckon we all need to join the craft forum and turn it into a nice and busy but organised place! I don't know about anyone else but I find it hard keeping up with this thread sometimes as there's so many different discussions going on it grows at a rate of about 4 pages a day :rotfl:

I think it's back up now as I was just having a look ;)
