This has always been the case since the beginning of time - they always quote the most attractive capacity. Remember floppy disks? I used to buy 3.5" disks, they came in 1MB and 2MB but only formatted to 720k and 1.44MB - thats a 28% overhead! Also the trick of quoting 1000k = 1MB when really everything uses 1024k is where the biggest culprit is with the munufacturers.

I have seen some drives by phillips which have one touch backup, I think they use nero or something and let you copy what you want over.

Are there any with the one touch backup anyone has seen on offer?
