I opened the e-bond on line and funded it using debit card. No problems at all one of the easiest accounts I have ever opened.

But did you manage to get your maximum required funds in there before they withdrew it? If you did you are one very lucky person! There are quite a number of us that were hoping to stash Icesave money into that account

I did get the the amount I required in there. I "borrowed" the money from my offset mortgage account pending the return of my Icesave funds.

Was that the current one at 5.5% or an earlier one? Actually the 5.5% one is only until June. Still about as good as many others, and it can be opened rapidly. Still I have more than the £50000 with them.

It was the previous 6.5% till 31st Jan 2010 offering.
As far as Im aware the present offering allows immediate funding via debit card as long as they can verify your ID during the application process.

  • DONT GO WITH YBS, check Clydesdale Bank

    http://www.cbonline.co.uk/personal/savings/term-deposit/

    http://www.ybonline.co.uk/personal/savings/term-deposit/

can get up to 6.48% fo 3 years, make sure you don't wait till Monday.

Just noticed the rates have now been reduced. I completed an online PDF application yesterday and sent this morning with cheque using a 1st class stamp for quicker post.
I 'phoned Clydesdale to enquire if the old rate would be honoured and was informed that as long as the funds and forms completed at the old rate were received by Friday it would be fine.
  • Well they still haven't sent the cheque back today, how long did it take others to receive their cheques back!!
  • Sorry, should I have said this coming Friday (21st)? :o So I would assume if the form and cheque have already been sent then it should qualify for the old rate.
He said mine, posted today, would be fine - today's postmark and I did date application and cheque 16th! They must have updated the rates on their website late morning or early afternoon today because I checked this morning before posting and the old rates were still there.
