Warning note - Item 30 - Play.com Terms & Conditions.
All electrical products are covered by a twelve month manufacturer's warranty. If your product develops a fault while under warranty, please contact Play.com and we will advise you where to send it for repair. It is a "return to base" warranty therefore there will be a delivery charge to return the product back to the relevant UK service centre.
Many other retailers have a policy to offer repair / replacement of items under the 12 month guarantee (including return postage) and therefore offer a better service.
You are also not covered by UK consumer rights.

Not sure, but I do know they have a call centre in Ireland, I'm surprised to hear about UK consumer rights.Brooker_Dave wrote: »Aren't Play based on Jersey?Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

Jersey law does not feature Sale of Goods Act or similar. It is a funny old law that takes bits from English law and bits from French.0

I think so. When they ship the items have a Jersey postmark. I've never had a problem with play.com so I'm not sure why this is an issue.0 -

It's an issue because I believe they have no obligations or responsibilities to a buyer under Jersey law to do anything in the event that goods are faulty. You will still have any manufacturer's warranty, typically one year however after that you're relying on goodwill. Contrast that with the UK where you are protected for up to 6 years. It may not be an issue if you use play for buying DVD's but if you buy some more expensive electrical products from them then it's definitely something you should be taking into consideration.Bought, not Brought0 -

Print out a listing of the product and see if any of your local High Street retailers will price match. Failing that voice your concerns with the customer support department of the manufacturer of the product0 -
You might also be surprised to find that UK consumer rights are not applicable in France, Italy, Brazil, Vietnam or any other place that isn't the UK...

Although at least France and Italy are covered by some EU rights. Unlike Jersey.
