Virgin credit Card

Looking to make repayments i found the following
Pay Online to make a payment online, log on to Online Banking. You will need to register/log on at www.virginmoney.com/service
Telephone Banking: To use a home banking service with your bank you will need
(1) Your personal Virgin Credit Card number
(2) Our bank account number: 70328725
(3) Our sort code: 08-61-30
Payments by telephone banking should be made at least 5 working days before the payment due date shown on your statement.
Would I be able to use the Telephone Banking details to set up a standing order with my own bank?0 -
Yes, but I'd recommend only using this for additional payments...over and above the minimum payment direct debit, which I strongly recommend setting up to prevent you losing the 0% rate (amongst other penalties) if you forget to pay one month.Would I be able to use the Telephone Banking details to set up a standing order with my own bank?
MBNA (who run the Virgin card) do not take into account any extra payments you make by standing order when setting the direct debit, ie the £25 will always be taken by DD if you have a statemented balance greater than £25.0 -
Be very careful to pay in plenty of time if you are not paying by DD coz even if you are 1 day late they will take the offer of 0% away completely plus obviously charge you for paying late.0

I havent any DD set up to make the payment. I would need to ring Virgin Card, customer services to set this up wouldnt I?0 -

Yes you ring customer services however you usually have to sort paying the first month yourself as it takes time for them to set it up. This is where I nearly messed up as I paid the first month via internet banking and it didn't get to them until a day late. Totally my fault as I misjudged how long the payment would take to get to them. I did explain and could prove I set it up in plenty of time so they let me off but were originally saying they had taken the 0% off me. So be careful to make all payments on time to make the most of this great deal. Which I am sure you will do but it just best to be aware.0 -
I have just been accepted for this card too. When I made my application online I was asked if I'd be interested in doing a balance transfer, so I put in the relevant details.
My question is, will the transfer take place automatically, or will I have to arrange to set it up?0 -
Its done automatically. Thats what threw me. I went online and tried to register for online banking and it asked me the amount owing on my last statement. I hadnt had one so i put £0, and it wouldnt accept it, because the balance transfer had taken place.I have just been accepted for this card too. I too have been accepted for the virgin card (yesterday),
The lady on the phone said I had been accepted straight away with a limit of £3,800.
She said I would be sent an email with instructions but I still haven't had it. Is this normal?
How long does it usually take?
Also I was hoping for more than £3,800 so how do I go about getting more?
Will virgin increase the limit if I ask them or can I apply for another credit card?0 -
I applied online then got accepted straight away, then within 24 hours received an email confirming acceptance. A few days later received pin number, 2 days later received card with credit limit of £9000, then had to ring to activate the card.I too have been accepted for the virgin card (yesterday),

When you register for online banking you can request a increased limit. Look at post #18 about registering for online banking.0 -
The best time to request a credit limit increase is BEFORE you activate the card. Either ring them now, or ask at the start of the activation call (if it's automated, ie asks for a card number etc, then don't enter anything and hold on for a human).
After all, once you're 'formally' a customer (ie activated account and registered for online management), they'll probably play the "we want to see 6 months activity first" card.0
