Wireless router uses charge?

Hi,
trying to be greener and save some money also. I have a wireless router, free from virgin, but my computer is next to internet cable, so really could stop using the router. The router is plung in to the socket for approx 8 hours a day. How much do you think this cost in a day with the rates approx? I am with British Gas and Electricty.
Thank you for your thoughs

I'd have thought that the cost would be negligible, falling into the "every little helps, but you won't see a big difference in itself" area, I'm afraid.
If you do a lot of downloads, you'll maybe see an improvement in performance with a wired connection rather than wireless, which might allow you to switch off the computer more often and save a bit more power that way ;-)If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
iirc my linksys wireless router uses something like 12watt (12volt at 1amp), so i'd suspect the one virgin supply wouldn't be too different.0

A few pennies an hour. Really.
As I already said, the amount is so small it's going to be hard to figure out accurately, and how can anyone give you an accurate answer to cost when they don't know what you're paying for Electricity. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Assuming 12 watts, and electricity at 14p/kwh, and you never switch it off it will use around £15 of electricity over a year. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
