Semolina - where can I buy it?

I did try it last week without the semolina and DH said it was nice but not as good as it used to be - he said "it was softer" and he didn't know I hadn't put the semolina in so I would like to use it when I make it again just to give it that crunchy texture.0

Sainsburys sell it! But they keep it in an odd place, its with the cous cous next to the rice. hope that helps0

Semolina is made from wheat, whereas ground rice is made from - rice!
You could try substituting one for the other in the shortbread recipe to see if that works.0 -

try out the 'ethnic foods' section of your supermarket, or any asian or chinese supermarket like this one:

Finally managed to get some from my small local health shop. Just made some shortbread using semolina as well as the flour and it definitely has the "crunch". Just eaten 2 pieces just to make sure.
Thanks to all who posted with suggestions of where I could try.0 -
you're welcome. Glad you managed to get hold of some!0

careful, you might just have eaten those pieces from around the edge, where they brown more anyway, so they would just be "baked crisp".
I think you should try a couple of pieces from the middle just to be sureIn fact, I think you need to test the whole tray as you don't want soggy shortbread, do you?

I hadn't thought that I could have only tasted the ones from the edge, can't remember which pieces I tried, so will have to try some more. Just taken some to my friend's son who hasn't been eating much this week but he managed some shortbread no problem.
Will try some more after tea just in case I did only try the pieces from around the edge.0 -
Waitrose have it....it's in their just for cooks section. I made a very strange cake with it called yoghurt cake from the cookbook for my new cooker...it's German and it looked quite exciting - it tastes...
...well what's not to like with vanilla flavoured cake soaked in lemony syrup...still it's not what you'd expect. Maybe it improves with keeping....if it doesn't I'll be on to Neff in the morning to give 'em whatfor!
