BTW when I worked for Marine Midland Bank in the 80's our chief economist was Jim O'Neill (now reincarnated as Dr. James O'Neill from Goldman Sachs) and his favourite line was

LOL very entertaining. Quite like watching him on Bloomberg, very dry sort of character, I'd imagine he'd be laugh out on the beers.

Personally I find tech analysis works fine for me. I think part of the problem is when people see tech analysts on tv it all looks very simple, whilst it is fairly starightforward to be honest, it's maybe not quite as simple as it appears, ie it requires a little bit of work, there's a little more art to it than science. The other issue that causes most people problems is that tech analysis merely provides higher probability entries, not certainties, therefore unless it is used as part of a disciplined approach using proper risk management it is likely to get you in trouble more often than not.

Yep, our (call us stupid/all eggs in one basket) holding went up by 5%. Probably lose it all, and more, next week.

    Happy New Year Dowagers!

Indeed. I am enjoying the lack of volatility - long may it continue (although it probably won't).Then I can come off the medication ;)

I am, as of yesterday, finally back at my stock purchase price less the dividends I have received, which is a low price but a good mental place to be. My mortgage tracker (where the proceeds would have gone if I had sold the shares) is peanuts so I'm content with dividends and/or capital growth. Trying to not ask for too much.
