I have just noticed that the Dow has moved from a big down to a big up
So it looks like an upsy day on the FTSE tomorrow. Anyone know what caused this?

People feel that value is appearing. If you look at analysis of small caps, there are companies out there that are (supposedly) trading for less than the value of the cash in the bank.

    Who suddenly decided that?

    The Market I guess.

It looks like tech stocks and more particularly oilies that are leading the market up.

How can you have a day where at one point you're down almost 4% and finish up 6%? It's just silly. Volumes must be really light, it's the only explanation.

The Dow does it on purpose. Waits for it's little sister, the FTSE, to go to bed and then goes out with his mates and parties!

According to Bloomberg volume was up about 25% on an average day. It's no longer about fundamentals but fear and greed which explains the volatility. The VIX (volatility index) has been going mad over the last month or so.

I heard volumes have been light over the past few weeks. I have no easy way to check though. I think greed and fear are the fundamentals that drive investment markets, personally.

Of course VIX ix way up. It was at all time lows and now the markets are bouncing around like Tigger on ecstacy!
