Can I save 30k by Christmas 2009???

The month has certainly been cheaper, with 1800 spent so far in the month (for 2 people incl everything) which makes this month look the least expensive of the year so far.
Lent has seen a break from alcohol from us which could help keep us in on the weekend. The shares have marginally increased and the debt has come down.
Hopefully we are now cutting out most of the unneccessary expenses we had and will see how the rest of the month goes!!

Rent is 800(excl bills and dropping from next month to 700), transport has been 400 (OH ticket costs 63 p/w week plus 3 quid for buses per day plus london travelcard which is 116 each)
Paid 65 for a pair of glasses (lenses are a rip off) food has been 115 and shouldnt be much more - def the gym is a costly point, 70 each!! so 140 a month. I usually get there every morning but the 16 hour days (incl transport) plus some of the weekend has curbed that and made me sick from exhaustion. This should be the last week of the project and looks to be a real long one

Can you get cheaper bus and train tickets using Oyster?I thought travel cards were more expensive than topping up on oyster.Your gym does seem expensive, mine is £40 each for my partner and I.Have you got some kind of premiun membership? The gym is the one non essential I couldnt go without while trying to cut my costs, keeps me mentally positve and physically fit.0

Yeah think they gym characters are sharks, will definitely relook that as got a month on month one. Member of a squash club as well which adds onto my contributions.
I also wondered about the train tickets but have been assured that its the cheapest way to get from zone three south up past stalbans area in the north takes her 2 hours each way on a bad day using the different underground lines to kingx!
It would be great if the OH would get a job in london would save 300 a month from it and I am sure the pay would be more in london!!!
