Do you/would you put a xmas wreath on the outside door?

Options
That's basically the question. Never done it before, would love to this year, but OH is hesitating. And if you do, are there any "secrets" to prevent it being vandalised?

I would love to as I think they are so beautiful (when they are not cheap and tacky). Unfortunately though, I live on a terraced street with the front door going straight on to the pavement. It wouldn't last 5 minutes I don't think.
  • We always have a wreath on the door, and it has never been touched. I live in quite a nice area, but next door to the local comp, so we do have problems off and on with the kids. The front garden is only small, so we are perhaps vunerable, but surprisingly in over twenty years the wreath has been touched.

A good cowgirl always keeps her calves together.
  • We always do, and have never had a problem, spose it depends where you live. I don't see why anyone would vandalise a wreath though, not saying it couldn't happen, just don't see it happening.

I have had one for the last few years and its never been stolen. We do live in a quiet cul de sac though. I get one from the florist but i take out the flowers and add my own ribbon and berry's which i buy separately.

My sister had one stolen off her front door last year and she lives in a much nicer area than me. So i guess it depends on your neighbourhood

We live in a terraced house that faces straight onto the street so, much as I'd love to, I wouldn't want to take the chance - especially as its the main route to the secondary school.
If I had just that litle bit more frontage then I would. I do love to see them

It's not the people living there with me, it's the ones passing through our street (which runs parallel to the high street of a suburb/village). It is a nice area but my street seems to suffer spates of petty vandalism, especially to wing mirrors on the kerb side!!! A neighbour actually saw someone do it once and it was a man, very drunk, walking down the road, shouting and kicking everyone's mirrors in. Other times it might have been kids and a few of us have experienced eggs thrown at windows although that's only happened to me twice in 13 years.

Gosh it sounds dreadful doesn't it?

When I had an outside front door, I hung the wreath on the outside. I had one of those over the door hooks and a couple of small D shaped nails hammered into the door, so I could loop that green garden wire through and tie the wreath on. Partly to stop it blowing away as we live on a hill and we get high winds, and partly so it couldn't be just lifted off.

Last year we replaced the wooden door with a UPVC one, so I had to hang it on the inside glass instead as the door wouldn't shut with the hook on!
Here I go again on my own....

I'd love to but not a hope of it staying there where I live :(
My bin got stolen lastnight, that cost me £45  so I can safely say a pretty holly wreath would be gone in a flash

I always put one our door. We're not ina particularly nice area but it's never gone missing. I expect it will this year now that I've written that.

It's so welcoming, i really like them.
