Books for nephew - which ones?

Hi
I am trying to find some books for my nephew - can anyone suggest any?
He's nearly 2, and he loves any cardboard books with things like flaps/dials/hidden bits etc to play with as he turns the pages.
Does anyone know of specific books that I could look for?
Thanks loads!

You could try the Usbourne Books, they have a great select based around a farm. My son started with these when he was 2 and still like the older version of the books now is 7.

Usbourne Books have a website and usually have some really good deals going.

Try and get a book called ' Love You Forever'

Its absolutely beautifully written and is still a firm favourite with my son who's now 8!!

Its about a baby who's mum goes into his room at night and says a poem whilst he's sleeping. The baby grows into a toddler, child, teen and a grown man but the mum still says the same poem 'Ill love you forever, like you for always and as long as i'm living my baby you'll be'

Eventually the mum gets old and sick and as she's dying the son visits her and says 'I'll love you forever, like you for always and as long as I'm living my mother you'll be'

He then goes home and repeats the pattern with his own baby daughter.

The book reduces me to tears every time I read it - its lovely!
  • As a nursery nurse i had a selection that were always asked for. "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", We're Going on a Bear Hunt" (a lovely rhyming book), "Dear Zoo" are all lovely books to try
  • Hi

A Cheese and Tomato Spider by Nick Sharrat is a firm favourite. Also have alook at some others by this author.
  • I second "I Love You Forever." My daughter is 3 and knows the book off by heart.
  • Try play.com they have quite a lot of classic ones on there such as hungry caterpiller and some recent ones like in the night garden ect, last time I ordered they were 3for 2 not sure if they have the deal on now though.
Also if you live anywhere near a home bargains they have a good selection of kids books soo cheap and they're always changing getting different ones in.
    Hope that helps

My Boys Love One That Is Call Guess How Much I Love You?
  • Eric Carle's Mr Seahorse is gorgeous. It's about male fish who do the childrearing! Along the way, Mr Seahorse meets other male fish who are keeping the babies in their mouths or carrying eggs on their heads etc and every other page is transparent plastic with seaweed etc on with other fish that are well camoflaged, so as usual, he manages to impart a lot of information as well as making it a beautiful piece of artwork that is hugely entertaining.

Any eric carle book is a sure winner imo.

Also, the 'That's not my...' series is a hit with little ones too.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.
