Transferring phone number
Options
Hi,
I am, at present, looking for a good contract deal online which will give me cashback during the course of my contract.
I would like to take my present payg number with me. When would be the best time to apply for it - now before I get the new contract or when I have it up and running? Can you also remind me how I go abouts doing it? Also, Is there any likelihood that if I do it, that it will affect my cashback claims?

You can call your existing service provider at anytime and ask them for the PAC (porting authetication code). You will then need to adivse the new network of the PAC code before or when you connect. The PAC code remains active for about twenty days, and then it lapses if the phone number is not grabbed by the new network within that period. If it does lapse, then you will need to request another from the donor network.
If you plan to use one of the cashback schemes they may require you to advise them at the point of ordering that you are intending to port your existing number onto the new contract phone. I would advise them anyway so as to be sure that your cashbacks are as trouble free in obtaining as possible.0
