Footnote (and good morning campers)
I always thought that the 4th December was mentioned by the FSCS to give them a breather and consolidate their thoughts after having sent all emails but before being inundated with problem phone calls.
Of course, if they really intend sending emails up to this date, then my figures above which are assuming an end date of Nov 30th need to be amended accordingly.
But if they do need to continue beyond November, then the 'vast majority' as they fondly term it, will exclude some electronic recipients and not just those needing to make paper claims.

here we go another day waiting for the 2nd e-mail and money-- i am self employed and need the money as a "buffer" and may i say this thread really cheers me up -what with waiting for the mail and all the gloom and deparession around it is refreshing to read all the humerous posts--heard a good old song on the radio this morning coincidence or not the song by Jilted John and Gordon is a Moron 1978 !:D0
