There is a strong sense that we're being led down the garden path with the "FSCS remains on track to offer compensation to the vast majority of Icesave customers in November." party line. I hope it's not like when your flight is horrendously delayed but rather then tell you the truth right out they feed you a series of shorter delays.

I was having a think about the numbers.

They have sent out the following second emails: 50K (by 17/11), 75K (by 19/11) and 100K (by 21/11).

So the step up has been from about 10K per weekday to 12.5K per weekday.

As there are 5 working days before 30/11 this means the total send out by 30/11 will be 160K + any they send out this weekend and next weekend. Perhaps might get the figure to just below 200K.

The total number of icesave customers according to FSCS is "more than 200K". I have seen the number of 230K in the press but no official figure from the FSCS. Of these the FSCS has already identified 16K as not having linked bank accounts set up (see 16/11/08 press release) and so will be sent out paper applications this week and not second emails.

So total number to receive second emails will be somewhere between 184K (=200K - 16K) and 214K (=230K-16K).

So it is possible that everyone will get a second email (apart from the poor unfortunates who don't have a linked bank account) by the end of 30 November. Just depends how many icesave customers there really are and how many second emails are sent out at weekends.

Post number 1964, I hope. May be a significance. :rotfl:
