  • Hi - I have been lurking on this site for a little while - getting some inspiration for presents - I have a couple of 'big' birthdays for distant relatives and friends coming up so they are getting Pots of Gold - I have also started making my OH a Heap of Hearts for Valentines day - found a heart shaped tray in the charity shop - now need to find some red/heart sweets and away I go!!!

Also thing about doing something for Easter for my friends - kind of mixing the Snowman soup idea and the pot of gold - not quite sure how this will work out - will post you when I have sorted my head outx

Sweets used for wedding favours are usually heart shaped and wrapped in red foil

Depending on how many you need Haribo have the foamy hearts in their packs of sweets, I think you could probably buy them seperate from somewhere aswell ...

Did a quick search on ebay - http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38.l1313&_nkw=haribo+hearts&_sacat=See-All-Categories

Good luck with it :) sounds fab, and remember some pics when you are done ;)

rusty - some people were using the pots from activia intensly creamy yogurts.
i don't think reusing the previous pot would be tacky - i'm sure you'd make it look nice. you could also paint it using craft paint or acrylic paint - i think!

Ive decided to make hubby a pot of gold for valentines day as he said he would prefer me to make something rather than going over the top, Ive bought lots og gold coins from the boots 75% sale and also some huge caramel quality street sweets in asda reduced to 20p each :-) What I cant find is a gold bowl and a romantic verse to relate to it being romantic and also a pot of gold?? Has anyone come across anything yet?

On a serious note I got my "gold pot" from homebase, £5.99 - well it was more of a gold dish like you can put floating candles in. They also had cheap gold pots in B&Q, more like plant pots (just over £1 I think) - I suppose you could buy a little plant to put in too for when he'd eaten the sweets? I made it for my brother and his wife and bought a "gold" lottery scratchcard, which won them £5 too!
