OH saw some bags of coins yesterday at the newsagent for 50p - I wasn't sure how long they'd keep and he didn't check the sell by date.
I could do pots of gold at easter for couple of people who didn't have them at christmas

I bought some Christmas 2007 which were dated 2009 so kept them to use in 2008. the choc had gone all white even though they were still in date. Luckily I had only given them to my boys...would have felt bad if I had given them as a present.

Can anyone tell me who it was who used one of the fancy yoghurt pots? Can't think of the name of the yoghurt now but I know the kind they meant ... I could do with a name so that I can go buy a yoghurt so I have a pot to do another pot of gold.

    Thanks in advance

  • I remember "hdollabbott" used cheap plastic flower pots & sprayed them gold & they looked pretty cool. Someone else also mentioned using the GU pots, but you'll have to eat the chocolate first.
Cant remeber the yoghurt ones though.
THanks for the original idea by the way!

Thanks for your post, I am heading into another local town today so i will have a look in wilkos and see if I can get some kind of basket for the valentines stuff and some kind of clear/red container ... failing that I will have to do it in a wine glass or similar. Not heard of the GU pots but if they are full of chocky then it can't be bad ;)

Think I'll do pot of gold in a pint glass for ex foster girls OH and one for her in a wine glass...............thats them sorted out.

Was going to do pot of gold and put packet of sunflower seeds in it among the choccy but think I'll do that as 'canned sunshine' in an empty gravy granule tub and stick pictures of sunflowers around it. Since she's having a gardening hamper it'll fit in ok

The canned sunshine sounds lovely ... I might have to use that as an excuse to put together a few bits for the kids gardening wise for the summer :) my son loves sunflowers, and is always asking his grandad in bulgaria if his sunflower is ok.

We have one of them ... just need another in pink ;) Thankyou :)

Can I have some advice please, I am thikning that I might be able to cover the yellow bowl (ikea) that I used for the pot of gold, do you think I could cover it in red tissue paper and then fill it up? not sure if it would look tacky etc etc reusing the bowl but I am struggling to find something suitable and I really need to get cracking with making this lot up!

How about getting your kids to help decorate them - a good excuse if they don't turn out quite how you wanted them to :rotfl:
