It took 2 months for them to reply to me !!!

BTW, i had a similar issue with this last month. I sold a car in September. It was exported to Ireland. I sent the export slip and a letter, but had heard nothing for 6 weeks. I then received a Tax Renewal letter for the car which is up at the end of Novemember. I rang the DVLA who advised they dont inform keepers that an export has been complete and it takes a while to update the system, hence why i got a tax renewal 6 weeks after selling the car. This is unrelated to the SORN Issue mentioned. So time will tell. I am half expecting another SORN fine from the muppets in a couple of months.

    Good luck

    Regards

    Ant
  • My car tax run out on 31/05/09 but my car has been "off the road" not on a public road. Will I still get fined?

    Have you declared in SORN?

If not then yes, you will get a fine.

I cant understand why people are having these problems.

Or if it is to be kept off road, just SORN it, it takes all of 2/3 minutes.

AFAIK you, as the seller of the vehicle, do not complete the export part of the V5 as you are not exporting it. You, as the seller, just need to complete the new owner details. The new owner, should they then subsequently export it, should complete the export part of the form.

Id guess there are cases (as with me some time ago) where the post gets misses due to a house move and not all the mail being redirected, but to forget about it for almost 3 months is crazy.
