Install logmeinfree on both PCs. On the pc you want to access, install it whilst you're over there, register, then you need to disable it and basically add it to your computers list, enable it, then you can access it whenever the other pc is connected to the internet. I have it installed on 6 pcs now, for family and friends. You need to open Log mein on your pc, by entering email address and a password, then when you choose the pc you want to connect to, you need to input an access code - I just have a really long password that only I know.
I will try this when i am over next sound easy the bit about disableing it and re ableing it will im sure come easy when i start do you have a link do the download and will it ask them to accept my connection when i try to remote control. If ive helped click thanks it will make me smile

I have been using Logmein to help out with family PC problems. You have no problems with firewalls and there is no need to forward ports on routers
You can have a free trial of the full package for one off problems.
For more long term use the free version is pretty good. However you need to install it on each of your target PCs. You do this by logging in to the Logmein site, downlonding and running the installer. For this you really need to visit and sit in front of the target PC.
Apart from that minor inconvenience it works very well. The only problem occurs after a reboot, sometimes it takes ages for the target to reappear available on the remote control page. If you have the paid version it patiently waits and reconnects automatically.

When you install the logmein app on the target PC you specify an access code. Whenever the PC is on line it will show up on your Logmein home page and you just click, enter the password and take control. The remote user does not get an option to refuse, just a pop up saying "this PC is being remote controlled by:"
If they wish to prevent you looking over their shoulder the remote user could right click the logmein icon and disable it, enabling it again if they require your help.

Follow this advice, after installing it onto your pc first - this was from an email I got sent from LogMeIn.
Your LogMeIn PCs are accessible via LogMeIn.com or using LogMeIn Ignition (if you have a trial or a subscription to Ignition). They are not controlled by any particular computer of your own. So instead of making them all controllable from one computer, you would have to make them all controllable from one account. An account is referred to by an e-mail address. I have attached the instructions as to how to move a PC to another account below.
In order to move a computer from one account to another, you must have the login information for both accounts, and physical access to the computer that you wish to move.
First, sit at the computer that you want to move. Log into the LogMeIn account that the computer is currently associated with. Next, select "Edit" next to the computer, then "Delete this PC from My Computers".
Next, right-click on the LogMeIn systray icon (in the lower right-hand corner of the computer, next to the time) and select Disable LogMeIn. Once it has been disabled, right-click on the icon again, and this time select Enable LogMeIn. This will bring up a small window that says "Open LogMeIn".
When you click "Open LogMeIn," a web page will open that will allow you to enter any account information. Once this has been completed, the computer has been moved.
The link to the download is in my first post.
Hope this helps. My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.0 -
