Q. What is the PMS?
A. The PMS was established in 1982 to encourage Presbyterians to save through their own Church by becoming shareholders and to use and manage such savings for their mutual benefit by creating a source of income and also to establish a fund from which shareholders might borrow at a competitive rate of interest.
Clerk of the Presbyterian General Assembly Rev Dr Donald Watts said, "It is easy to point out that the mutual society is a separate legal entity which is quite separate from the Church"
Hmmmmmmmm.........difficult to see how anyone got the idea it was associated with the church. If it was so easy to point out maybe the Rev Dr Watts should have pointed it out during some part of the preceding 27 years.
Hopefully at some point there will be the opportunity for the media to have another chat with Donald - caring and sensitive soul that he undoubtedly is. Unfortunately I dont think the moderator will be letting him open his mouth in public for the next few years at least, possibly never given that his credibility has pretty much disappeared among Presbyterians
Is all the quiet no news is good news or the calm before the storm ?0 -

One of the strangest things about this whole mess was that at the beginning, back in mid November, the PCI had Donald Watts speak on Will Crawley's programme and Spotlight.
Now after his first appearance on Will Crawley you would have thought the PCI would have caught themselves on...............but no.......... they allowed that man to continue to be their spokesperson and go through the embarrassing charade on Spotlight, of redefining words, wriggling, ducking and diving........ he couldn't even make eye contact with the interviewer.
Now that was sinister.
Or else the PCI is so totally and completely divorced from reality that they couldn't see the harm that he did.
Think Patton has finally wised up and decided to take leadership himself - like you say it took a while.0 -
Have just come in and as usual my first step was to turn on the laptop and check this forum! Every evening after work it is the same routine now!!
I am so grateful for this forum and all your posts. It helps with the isolation I feel and my helplessness about this PMS situation. As I go out to work each day,to come home and find someone has posted up any links to a little report in a newspaper just makes me feel connected. All your posts from people whose feelings are so similiar to my own are so appreciated.0 -
you're certainly not alone. it does just feel like a wait and hope situ. now, but one never knows. gb is frying a lot of fish at the moment and i don't even think we're caught in the mesh. deti did their emergency legislation very, very quickly, so, perhaps, more pressure should be placed here. especialy as their remit seems to involve no intervention.0

Only guessing.
But quite honestly nothing would surprise me now!!Q.What can I borrow for?
A.Purchase of a farm, farm machinery or stock.
Purchase of a home or home extensions.
Purchase of a car.
Any other purpose acceptable to the Directors and falling within the Scheme governing the society.
In which case I'm guessing that the Young Farmers borrowed for "any other purpose" then...
Anyone know what the "Scheme governing the society" would be? It would be interesting to see if it covers buy-to-let developments...0 -
Sorry, can't resist this one:
Jesus saves.
But not with the PMS.0 -
I hear on Radio Ulster this morning that a group of past Moderators have all got together to write to the British Gorernment, Irish Government & Assembly to ask for a Bail out basically.... Left it a bit late I think...0

My mistake, I thought the moderators had signed the petition, it seems they have written to the Governments as warmhands.coldheart was saying
