Great work Crazymess. :T
Pity that the most important sentence was left out of the Newsletter report. It gave (possibly) a false sense of optimism to so many.
It will be interesting to see how events unfold over the next few weeks.
Everyone, keep letter writing - there's a long list given on previous threads. At the moment this is the most practical thing that can be done.0 -
Just a thought before bed -
Have the FSA decided not to take proceedings against the Directors - because of the Northern Ireland loophole - Industrial and Provident Societies are registered under the DETI????? Mrs Arlene Foster and Company - in other words the Directors of PMS were doing regulated activity BUT THERE WAS NO-ONE - NO SYSTEM AND NO RULES IN PLACE HERE IN NORTHERN IRELAND TO REGULATE THEM!!! AND PERHAPS IT IS OUTSIDE FSA'S REMIT AND JURISDICTION!
WHO IS REPSONSIBLE FOR THIS????0 -

Another point..... It's been pointed out that the Newsletter did such a bad job reporting on the outcome from the FSA report and leaving out that ever so important scentance. But what about BBC Northern Ireland or UTV. Never heard any mention on any of the news programs of the PMS " conducting regulated activities without the necessary authorisation or exemption "
Would it not also be worth contacting them??0 -

Many thanks to Crazyness for spotting the missing sentence; Joylikesto shop for taking up the slack for my lazyness and emailing the Newsletter and to the Newsletter for such a quick response.
I'm truly glad that it was the FSA that issued the incomplete statement (I'd like to put it a very different way, but we need to consider the libel laws) and not an omission by the Newsletter.
The conspiracy theories now are flying around inside my head - I wonder if Mr Orr is enjoying his breakfast today?0 -
Danny Kennedy's response in the News Letter seems odd.
"I think the current statement posted on their [FSA's]website is open to further interpretation and clearly could be used as an escape hatch by the Government.
"That would be very wrong of the Government. I just hope that in some way the Government is not manipulating the FSA in a manner that avoids honouring its responsibilities in this."
As an elder in PCI ans PMS saver should he not be more concerned that it appears that PMS did break the law according to FSA and this is the true cause of the problem, not the oft repeated blame on the government's guarantee? His only concern seems to be protecting the PMS/PCI. PCI are detrmined to keep repeating that it's all the government's fault, Donald Patton does likewise in saying how disappointed he is that Gordon Brown is doing nothing to relieve the ongoing suffering of PMS members. What are you doing Donald? So far it would seem that passing the buck is the PCI's only strategy!0 -

I am so pleased with this. At last you have a real fighting chance to win this battle. This opens up more avenues for potential court cases for negligence. You had to have evidence of wrongdoing and now it's in the public domain. The Newsletter have again stepped up to the mark.0 -
