    Quote Shaun Woodward
Earlier this week the government agreed to assist the troubled Dunfermline Building society. The Treasury confirmed it will take on about one-and-a-half billion pounds of its riskier assets
However, in response, Shaun Woodward the Northern Ireland Secretary of State, told MPs that it was wrong to compare the Presbyterian Mutual with the Dunfermline Building Society.
He said the building society was regulated by the Financial Services Authority and had protection and the PMS did not have the same protection.

He's the Northern Ireland secretary, isn't he supposed to be on our side!!
    Thanks Shaun!

google radio 4 listen again. then scroll down to you and yours.

@9:41 There are great parallels with Dunfermline

@9:50 I do think that if this had happened to an organisation in Great Britain with Labour MPs or Conservative MPs in the House of Commons then this would not have been allowed to happen and I really think that the Chancellor and the Prime Minister are in a difficult position because they have said "No UK saver with a UK institution has lost money". That's not true, there are these people who have lost a lot of money.

The lobby group I am in contact with, feel that progress is being made with the private letters already sent to the Treasury and House of Lords. It is imperative that heavy lobbying of the Treasury, House of Lords and Secretary of State is sustained and continued. So if you haven’t already done so, please send a letter or email to each of the following, telling your own story. Even if you are not a member of PCI or an investor please consider sending a letter or email.

    Secretary of State
Mr Shaun Woodward MP, Mr Paul Googins MP at either address as outlined below:-

I really feel for all those who have lost/are about to lose their jobs; 1,400 job losses announced this week. An awful lot of financial hardship out there and all the knock-on effects for local shops, bakeries, hairdressers etc. These are tough times for many people.

Just got a script off to Shaun. Us old pair are indebted to all of you, who contribute to this thread This is our only information line apart from the Belfast Newsletter. The PMS is not mentioned in our church and we so depend on this thread and all the links. It is important to let Shaun know that we were SAVERS and not speculators and there are many parallels with the Dunfermaline Society. Keep posting and God Bless.
