  • To all those who have texted, PM'ed or left messages for me, I am not ignoring you and will get caugt up before the end of the week.

There is a clear sense of things slowing off on the blog but I agree that there are lots of things happening behind the scenes. It is hard to co-ordinate meetings and Action groups if people have to travel to Belfast all of the time.

Perhaps there could be an East of the Bann group and a West of the Bann group which could be co-ordinated so that the information is accessible to everyone.

Thanks GBPCI; there is certainly a lot of "meat" in that article.

One little snippet: "He said the level of involvement with the Society in the local area was illustrated by the fact that two councillors 'declared an interest' in the debate and left the meeting."

Does that imply that these two councillors have money in the PMS? If so, it is all the better for the rest of us as they will have a vested interest in making sure that everything possible gets done.:cool2:

    Extract from the article
"However, SDLP councillor Malachy McCamphill said that whilst he has every sympathy he said there were issues surrounding the handling of investors' money.
He said the money was effectively being "gambled" in financial markets and he added: "Presbyterians don't believe in gambling as far as I know".

Interesting that the incompetence of the Directors in the running of the PMS is starting to go public, even being exaggerated a bit?

    I like the gambling analogy.
I have been ranting in the house for weeks about how Presbyterians don't believe in gambling yet a so-called respectable Presbyterian Institution such as the PMS has GAMBLED with our hard-earned money.

The SDLP really seem to be on the ball as far as this whole PMS issue is concerned. :T

Hope all these councils that support our plight get their letters off to Gordon Brown asap.

Wouldn't you wonder why he isn't dealing with this - I know he has been busy and of course our own sadness here in NI and may I say at this time - thoughts and prayers to the families of the two soldiers and the police officer and also the severely injured - it soon puts situations like ours in perspective.

    Can I second that please?
  • Yes it has been a very heartbreaking week for those families, my heart goes out to them.
  • Seven people have thanked Crazymess within 30 minutes of post 1598 being put on, which is very reassuring. This suggests to me that this Forum is still alive and well and that the recent dearth of communication is due to the fact that we have all temporarily run out of things to say but not because we have all disappeared into infinity.
Hang in there every-body.:hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello:
  • I have been chasing any information I can get my hands on re:PMS since November. I'm doing all this research on behalf of my elderly widowed mum (sorry for referring to you as 'elderly' mum if you ever get to read this :grinheart !!) who has - in my opinion - a substantial sum invested in the PMS. I know from posts on this site and PM's, that I'm not the only person doing this on behalf of a parent.

I live in Belfast and do not belong to any church ( although my teenage kids who are church goers are constantly attempting to encourage me to attend 'their' church) Because of this I don't have the chance to meet and exchange concerns with other PMS investors (which I assume regular attenders do:confused: ) so I have found this thread (mostly  ) to be a great source of 'comfort' and 'reassurance' at a time when there isn't much information available.Just to know that my mum is not alone and that I'm doing all that I can to keep her 'up to date' is strangely reassuring to both of us.

Over the last few months I've been in contact with a number of people from the forum for one reason or another. I agree with Nomad25 that it would be good to form an action or support group and for that reason I will be PM'ing a number of people from the forum TOMORROW (too late to do it now), to see if they'd be interested/available to meet for an INFORMAL coffee and chat.
If you dont hear from me please don't be offended - drop me a PM and if I do get an INFORMAL coffee venue arranged I'll keep you posted - provisional date that suits a few others I've already spoken to is Tuesday 24th (evening) and the proposed venue is not far from the motorway, near Boucher Road,Belfast.
So please check your INBOX to see if you're one of my 'chosen ones':rotfl: (even if you've only posted once or twice please login and check - because I've looked back over the forum to see who has contributed what in the past )

I agree with Whatnow that Belfast isn't going to suit everyone, but if we do manage to arrange even a small meeting in the Belfast area, maybe we can exchange information with like minded groups in various parts of the provence about how it went etc.
My view is that we have to start somewhere and judging by the following which I've copied from the Ballymoney times article, there are people arranging meetings in other areas already.... ''there was a public meeting in Buckna near Ballymena attended by hundreds of people to discuss the issue.' ':T

I'll probably not PM people who have said they do not live in N.Ireland any longer, or people like Jon_groovy for example who has made it clear they dont wish to be 'identified' until this whole mess is over.
I know from previous experience that it's not possible to PM a number of people all at once - although I'd be happy to be proved wrong here- so it'll take ages to work my way through my 'buddy' list.

I'm a 'simple' housewife, mother of teengers and classroom assistant. I HATE confrontation, I believe that its 'good to talk' and if only a handfull of people reply to me and we do get together for an INFORMAL chat, then who knows what we'll eventually be able to achieve.:grinheart

You can PM me or drop me a line at my uk hotmail- address ( sorry to be so cryptic, but I don't want to risk having this post removed by putting my email address on here because it has taken me ages to pluck up the courage to post this and to compose it !! )
