Fair play and thanks to all those who are posting 'legislative' links and comments.
However, I have difficulty in comprehending them and I think this difficulty would be something that many of the PMS savers would have.
Sort of feel I'm losing the plot! Don't know the solution to this, but thought it worth mentioning. Maybe a simplified, dummy's version just outlining the main points and relevant findings could be posted at some future date.
Looks like it's going to be stretched out until May, before any official moves are announced.0 -
nomad, could this not simply mean self-insurance?

my frustration is that even findings of a public enquiry may not be made public (not sure how they came up with the description!)
But if the DETI carries out an enquiry then any findings may be available under Freedom of Information. As they are a government body they would be legally obliged to respond to any request for information.
"Under Freedom of Information (FOI) law, they have to respond. The response will either contain the information you want, or give a valid legal reason why it must be kept confidential"

"However, information is not automatically exempt just because it is personal data. You will need to consider the details of the exemption. Any refusal notice will need to explain exactly which subsection applies, and why."
This is a quote from the FOIA...I'm definitely no expert here and the entire document is massive when you include all the exemptions etc.....but obvioulsy before a request is made for details on an enquiry....well there would have to be an enquiry so this may be a moot point!! :rotfl:

you might lodge 2 requests and stipulate in one of them that all names be blacked out in the response....0

I have spoke to a few lawyers about this. The shareholder's rights to access information are very limited as society is in administration. Apparently we can get 6 monthly updates on progress. But we cannot yet get transparency on lending policies etc0 -

Pardon my ignorance but is that actually an advantage to us or is it not just putting things on the long finger?

That would be my understanding too. By the time May comes, not to put too
finer point on it, I would think some savers will have lost the will to live, some will be dead and gone, many of rest will probably be on medication! PCI will be rubbing their hands in [pious] glee.0
