Just a point about signing on, sometimes (as i found out) they wont backdate it (so if you apply on week 2 you might not get week 1) so its worth getting him to do it today
As said before you've paid taxes and NI so its about time the goverment gave you something back!0 -
The thing is, he had a argument with his boss and walked out of his own accord, he had 2 mates who had asked him to go work with them, but when he rang them, neither of them had any work, with it being so close to christmas.
Would he get JSA, if he left job of his own accord, We've no money coming in at all ( only CB and CTC which go into my account and are being used to pay off overdrawn overdraft) and have a 4 year old son, would they give us something for him.
My mum is helping us out with food. Hopefully we'll get jobs very soon.
Thanks for replies.
I am so glad i found this site, it makes you feel better that others are in the same situation as you, because you think you are the only one when you are struggling along alone.0 -
Hi BJL,
Yes as far as I am aware he is entitled to JSa. If you have no other income other than child benefits, then you must be entitled to something?
Make it your priority to ring your local benefits office tomorrow, and ask what you are entitled too.
Also was wondering if you have told your oh yet?
Hugs

DONT take this as kosher.. im just going on what i was advised by a friend who works in the jobcentreplus (through enquiring about my own very similar situation) that if you walk out of a job you should still apply to sign on as you are likely to get something while they investigate your claim.... IF theres a valid reason as to why you walked out you may still carry on recieveing the money.. its based on a case by case system. The WORST they can do is refuse to pay JSA for the moment.. but as your not getting it anyway at the moment by not claiming....... youd be no worse off?
Im virtually certain that as you have a child you will be entitled to something as he would be counted as "vunerable"... not sure what though as im a single 20 yr old girl so alot of benefits dont apply to me so cant help you with any knowledge there.
From my short time working for the DWP (one day:rotfl:) i know aswell if your in dire need of money for essentials and cannot get any other help you MAY be able to get a crisis loan off your local benefits office to pay to keep your family "healthy and safe" see this page http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/benefits/crisis_loans.asp

What does your partner's amount of bills and mortgage add up to? Are you splitting the household stuff down the middle? I'm not criticising how you do it, just wondered if you have got it 50/50 or not? DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
