diesel question?

  • Got any cooking oil in the kitchen? Could throw a litre or two in if you have.

I once ran out of diesel in my old Pug 405, luckily I had a couple of litres of used engine oil in the boot from an oil change, throw it in and off I went lol, although wouldn't recommend it obviously.

Thanks guys, i was going to risk it, but now i'm too scared to.. ;)

Look at it this way, next time round you will be someone rich. I have decided to be Richard Branson next time round. Rumour is he was Oliver in a previous life and look at him this time round!

och the guy in the shop won't bat an eyelid!

just put the £3 in, and when you get to the counter say, "Omigod! i'm running on fumes here, was going to fill up and seem to have left my purse at home... this £3 was in the ashtray! oh my how embarrasing! but still better than nothing, at least i noticed before i put the fuel in"

and tra la la out the door.... he won't care!

Even without that hoo-har he wouldn't care! People have tried to put in less than that before, that's why there's a £1 minimum!

I wouldn't recommend it either! Throw in a few litres of cooking oil when the tank is nearly full and you'd be OK, just don't do it all the time! The valves aren't designed to inject pure (or nearly pure) cooking oil, you need to convert it for that.

i know! but i like to be theatrical!
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

  • There is always the other option of going to the petrol station, put in £20 then tell the counter staff that you have forgotten your purse, they take some details like reg, address etc then you go back in on Friday and pay the bill. Plenty have done it.
  • No joke, don't even have any cooking oil, i'm that skint this week, it's an utter nightmare!!! :wall:

I actually don't care, i'll fill it up and say nothing!

    Thanks again!

ps anyone know where to find a handsome millionaire? :rotfl:

I can't believe you're recommending this! It's essentially theft, since when the OP put the fuel in they would have had no intention of paying. You can't just 'borrow' fuel like this.

    WRONG WRONG WRONG

    Definition of theft
The dishonest appropriation of property belonging to another with the intention to permanently deprived the other of it.

As the OP has no intention to permanently deprive the petrol station of either the petrol of the money (because they have informed the petrol attendant that they are returning the following day to pay the bill) there is no crime here.
