From the microsoft link above..
To delete all restore points except the latest one, use the Disk Cleanup utility. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Disk Cleanup. Click on the more options tab and then select Clean up in the System Restore dialog box.
• To delete all the restore points on your computer, disable and re-enable system restore on the system. Click Start, Control Panel, and then the System icon. Click on the System Restore tab in the dialog box, select the Turn off System Restore check box, and click Apply. Clear the check box again to re-enable System Restore and then click OK.
• You can reduce the number of restore points saved by decreasing the total amount of disk space available to System Restore. Note that less available disk space will decrease the relative number of restore points.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Thank you I will print that and try it, Can I have the GBs increased say to 20GbS
and roughly how much would it cost?0 -
80GB=£37 from ebuyer.com.
Try doing a search for all files with sizes greater than 10000kb to see if you have any big files eating up your hard drive. You could also compress files, in explorer, which may free up a lot of space.
A 10Gb drive is normally fine, unless you have tons of music and video files..
Top of the range PC's only had 10GB drives in 1999ish, they were adequate then..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Untill I had XP and Bt Broadband installed I was using only one third of disc C and as I download rarely, I do not know where the space has gone and do not know how to check. I was previously on Windows 98, Sorry for being so none technical but I have always been linked to a Central Control that put any problem right in my work as an Insurance Underwriter.Thank you for your patience!!!!0

start, search, for files and folders, tick size, at least 9999kb, tick advanced, (tick search system folders, hidden files, search subfolders). Hit search now.. when finished, click the size column header to sort in size order, report back with the biggest 5 file sizes (and filenames (if you are willing to disclose them))Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Oh no answer found!!!
My Daughter, home from Uni at Christmas loaded lots of books and albums onto her Ipod
She assured me she had deleted them but apparently not. Please will you tell me how to remove them.
Thanks again.0 -
Did you find this out after doing the search, or has she just told you?
If the former, highlight the files in explorer (or the search window), and hit delete, then empty your recycle bin at the end..Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
I found them searching as per your directions!!!!
Thank you so much for your help, it has been really appreciated and I have learned so much due to your unfailling help!0 -

Yes and I have also removed several large files that I dont need anymore.
Today I was quoted £35 call out charge plus £20 per hour to sort out the space problem plus the cost of extra memory.
You have saved me a fortune!!!!
Thanks again.0
