I've bought loads of books from library 10p to 50p
and they're not just older books but some where the cover is damaged etcI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. We have been using the libraries for many years and think they are terrific. (Thank you Carnegie).
I am waiting on a Michel Thomas 8 cd Learn Spanish
set which would cost a lot to buy. It's also good to
visit some of the older libraries in other towns. The
buildings are marvelous. Motherwell Town Centre one
springs to mind for a small local library. Great situation for bus or train if you have a Free Travel Pass.
Any others??0 -
I too have used the library since I was very young. I am an avid reader and couldn't possibly afford all the books I want to read and also I wouldn't be able to store them.
I also use it for CD's and Videos. I also visit relatives regularly via the train and listen to talking books from the library which passes the 3 hour journey very quickly.
It is an excellent service ;D ;DSnootchie Bootchies!0 -
Our local library is brilliant for putting on fun days every so often for the kids.
My 7 year old loves going. She's been to music workshops there (2 hours free time for me on a Saturday!), halloween days, christmas fun days etc. They are great for spending an hour or so doing a craft, a bit of colouring, listening to a story and entering a competition.
In fact I've just won a free LearnDirect course from entering the comp during the Christmas funday (only had to give our details which they have already as we are members) ;D ;D
Not sure how I'm going to fit the course in as I work full time and have kids etc but might be able to give it away to a friend.
Libraries are one of the best free things around - always there on a wet and rainy day, always have desks out and a few pens for kids to do a little colouring, always got their blackboards available to have a good old chalk on (my kids I mean!). ;D
And their DVD/Video ledning is great especially if you are not desperate for the leatest release as the price very quickly goes down to a couple of quid or less.Nice to save.0 -
Well as you only usually read a book once I don't see much point in buying them so I too tend to borrow them from the library. Plus if they haven't got the book I want I can give them the title, author and ISBN and they'll try and order it next time they get money for an order.Alex Jones0

if I think I'm going to forget I put a note on my calendar when they are almost due back to either return them or renew them online0 -
I read the newspapers while I'm in there as well!0

I stick a reminder in my mobile phone a day or two before they are due, then i go online and renew them that way......so quick, so easy!0
