We started making wine last year ... so are very new to it. Most of the bits and pieces we got off car boot sales. We now have Rhubarb wine and Cherry Wine waiting in bottles for their first drinking date (July), Marrow wine and Cherry Wine in demijohns and a batch of Peach Wine (tinned peaches) we started last weekend. The Peach Wine will be ready in three months (and the last batch was very nice). We have decided as part of cutting down to make more of our own wine.Enjoying an MSE OS life0

Is there a website on basic wine making that someone has used to get them started and can recommend. I know there are probably millions of sites out there - which is why I've asked for the personal touchHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. tipsychick wrote:When you say making wine, do you mean twelve or thirteen percent proof like a standard bottle of wine, or is it more like sloe gin, etc. at thirty or forty percent proof? Sounds a lovely idea, although God knows what I'd make it from in London!
TIA
There is a thread here about people making wine with cartons of fruit juice, teabags and tins of fruit.

I make a fair bit and I would recommend anything by CCJ Berry esp 1st steps in winemaking - you could try the library or charity shops for a copy. The elderflower and lemon is good - we gave some to family & friends for Xmas pressies“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

I made bramble wine last summer and it was delicious!!
Will be repeating the experience this year but usually I get the kits which although seem costly.......still work out loads cheaper than the proper stuff.
You can get a kit in a Wilko's for £15 that makes approx 25 bottles of wine!!!Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600
