One of my regular brews is from a pkt of fruit teabags (69p, Morrisons), takes about 4-5 weeks and very drinkable.
Another easy one is from cartons of grape juice (Lidl offer 49p).
Both make a gallon, very easy, cheap and quick to brew.37 mrstwins squares, 6 little bags, 16 RWB squares, 1 ladies cardi, 4 boobs, 20 baby hats, 4 xmas stockings, 1 scarf, 4 prs wristwarmers0 -
How do you do the grape juice one?Just run, run and keep on running!0

4 x 1ltr cartons Lidl red grape juice
1lb sugar
2tsp citric acid
1 tsp nutrient
1 tsp yeast
1/2 tsp tannin
1 tsp pectolase
Sterilise everything as usual, put everything except 1 carton of juice into a demi and fit airlock. Add the remaining juice when the initial ferment has died down a bit (3-4 days). Let it ferment out in a warm place and rack off when finished. Add finings and rack again. Takes about 4-5 weeks from start to finish, even quicker in warm weather.37 mrstwins squares, 6 little bags, 16 RWB squares, 1 ladies cardi, 4 boobs, 20 baby hats, 4 xmas stockings, 1 scarf, 4 prs wristwarmers0 -

Sorry for being thickI expect that big supermarkets have winemaking stuff so I could look there.

Hi all,
I have been making wine for about 10 years now and the most successful one I make is Marrow & Ginger. I gave a bottle to one of my employees who used to import all his wine and he offered to buy from me at £6 a bottle! Its very easy and I'd be happy to give the recipe if anyone wants it but winemaking recipe books are easily attainable from librarys and second hand bookshops or charity shops or Amazon.

i don't think i'll ever 'grow' into red wine, but i am very sensitive to the tannins it it and i don't drink it because i start getting the hangover whilst drinking it, it doesn't even have the courtesy of waiting til the morning after
i'm curious to hear about other fruit wines and any tips on winemaking or mead/ale making. i am forever seeing demi johns at charity shops and we've been quite curious to make our own brew for some time, so much so that i have several wine making books that i've picked up over the years from charity shops
do you have to use fresh yeast or is it the dried stuff for baking? if it's fresh, where do you buy that?founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0
