Sounds too much like the household cleaner Cillit Bang, so that may give you problems.

I'd suggest that you try and get your location in the name - you say your customers will be with a 25 mile radius to you in Kent.

How about CashKent?(anyone with an interest in Uzbekistan will see it's a clever play on the name of the capitol city :rotfl: )

    Good luck,

    S.

their legal team are getting back to me on that. may be too quirky a name tho so i'm not 100% sure on it.

have come up with some safer options:

    we sell for you
    sell for you
    sellonsales
    sellitonsales

none of them are particularly clever, but they are professional and to the point.

not keen on using location name really, tho i won't completely rule it out.

    Hi Dosh,

Did you ask Cillit Bang in the end?? I thought I replied to your PM but now I am not too sure. Are you still playing with names though? I think you should use kentebaytradingassistant as it'll show up when people look for eBay trading assisants.

ETA: ALthough you are not keen on using names if you move the chances of the other counties being taken are remote and you could keep the kent one and just forward it. The thing is, there might be lots of other people doing the same and if people are browsing the internet they will not click on every singel name and they will want to know what you sell from your website name. I think tradingassistant will have more off a pull. I would not choose one that had a name like yours because I would not be sure of what you are selling.

Does that make sense? You need to get a name that corners your market rather than it just being catchy.
  • hi,

yes still coming up with names, tho i did buy sellitbang domain !

the "trading assistant" term is a grey area as from what i've read a lot of people do not think the term describes what they do completely, and the thinking is it may be changed. also, can i get away with having "ebay" in the name !!?!

your input is helpful tho. my friends liked "sellitbang" i think for its quirkiness, what i don't want to do is pick it just because of that and it be off putting. if thats the case i would rather something more plain and to the point.

  • ps. i don't want to restrict myself to just ebay, so although it will be mentioned in the content i'd probably be best avoiding it in the name

Yes I do understand but why not start with the ebay one and then if you move away from ebay you can just edit your site or run 2 alongside each other. Lots of other companies do that - thre is tightsplease and lingerieplease - they have lots of other 'sub sites' but have one company trading name. I only know these two 'arms' of their business it seems they have a lot of others and just issue invoices in the company name. There is nothing to stop you doing the same so you run as a sole trader but then have websites that people buy from in your own name. As the company expands you can use different website names then - but choose wisely as a name will follow you.

You could for example have the name 'J. Smith Trading' but you could have 15 websites, as long as the invoices and books go through 'J. Smith Trading' you cna have as many sites as you want.
