  • You may have an option to buy a home license for MS Office at a knock down price. I got the full package for £17.99 through a MS backed scheme. Ask your employeer!

What is my best way forward? I am not sure if my employer will buy the excel

Are you an employee or self-employed. If you're an employee they should provide you with it & probably have the license for it to go on your computer at home anyway. If you're self employed it's tax deductible.

I am an employee and sometimes work from home. The only computer I have access to is my own one at home. I have been asked to cover a post on a temporary basis which involves a lot of admin. People are sending me documents and charts that have been done on excel. For the moment, this is not one of my strengths.

I believe that my employer should buy this for me but when I asked, today, there was a loud Mmmmmm.... and no answer. ( Mind you I had just told her the Amazon price of £300 +++)

    Thanks for all your help

Get Open Office installed and try it out. As mentioned it's free, so you've lost nothing if it won't do what you want.

Can you not connect to your work computer remotely? Then you could just use your work's version of it.

I don't have a works computer. If I am not doing admin at home I am in schools supporting teachers.Could be the perfect solution for someone else though.

I will give Open office a go. I won't know until I try it might be the perfect answer.

    Thanks everyone
