One-way US Car Hire - CA to AZ

Thanks all
Happy_saver, my requirements as per my original post are to rent a car one way from SFO to PHX (incidentally from 21 June to 6 July) and to not have to worry about whether additional one-way fees are going to be charged when I get there. It goes without saying that I also want this as cheap as possible so this all has to be balanced to get the right company for me.
net-flights are the only reasonably priced company so far (although I'm still searching) that have catagorically stated in their ts and cs that a one way fee will NOT be charged between CA/NV/AZ. I have checked usrentacar and they only say that one-way charges will not apply between CA and FL. I cannot see anywhere on the website that there are no one-way fees between CA and AZ when using dollar, although perhaps you can point me to this?
They have a similar structure to holiday autos who had a fantastic price (£280) but no mention of one way fees. When I placed a reservation, I got an email back saying the one-way fee is $300+VAT. This is what I don't want to happen when I get to the states!!
Thanks for your investigations though! :T
Hi Bairn,
Only been trying to help you. I understand it is not the sellers/clearing houses that actually make the free offers etc. It is the Company from whom you are hiring the vehicle. So, it always pay to check with the actual Company hiring the vehicle to you..
I have given you information trying to be helpful. I suggest you just take the time to phone US carhire 01252 373078 or 0845226 8523 and you will find they will confirm, as I have previously said they can organise a car thru Dollar with free drop off to match your requirements. I believe they can offer you a better deal than anywhere else. Their reserve/holding fee is only £50 till 8 weeks prior to the hire period. Do check they will accept this deal on a small car if that is what you need.
I don't mind from whom you hire ( I'm not an agent for US carhire) but I find it irritating having given useful information that people ignore or dismiss it rather than carefully checking the information provided.
I hope you get a good deal and enjoy your holiday. You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing" Large print giveth - small print taketh away. "0 -

Happy_Saver,
I have neither ignored nor dismissed your suggestion, I am grateful for it. I have checked uscarhire on your recommendation and it is one of the frontrunners if the other terms (ie one way hire) are acceptable. I will contact uscarhire and if they can offer me a deal without the charge then it is likely that I will go with them because their prices are pretty good.
Thanks again :beer:0 -

Hi Bairn,
Sorry got the wrong end of the stick and I'm pleased to try and help you.
The following link should take you to their one way rental deals. If you look under Dollar you'll see " Free one way rentals between California and Arizona." But I'd still phone to check if they'll honour this offer on the type of vehicle you require and is available. They * the offer saying " .*One way rentals are subject to availability."

Good luck :beer:You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing" Large print giveth - small print taketh away. "0
