One-way US Car Hire - CA to AZ

Thanks to everyone for their kind replies. I think airline network is the one I'm going for. I have actually used them before with no problems and its the only one I've seen so far that has it in black and white that there is no one-way charge!
Cheers
The quote I got from http://www.usrentacar.co.uk/
for £186 was for picking the car up at San Francisco airport and dropping it off at Phoenix airport. This is confirmed on their quote. Can't be much clearer than that. So Airline network is not the only one.
However, you do what you feel comfortable with but I thought from your OP you wanted to save money , sorry about the confusion and wasting time

usrentacar are not as generous with one-way rentals....
(although they are more generous with additional drivers!)
One-way rentals
One-way rental charges are based on a city-to-city basis and are always on request. The one-way rental charge shown on this site are only an example and although they are correct at time of quoting our supplier retains the right to change this at anytime without notice. All one-way rental charges are paid locally and are not permitted on Economy 2dr or 4dr.
One way fees are subject to local taxes.
0 - 200 miles $50.00
201 - 500 miles $100.00
501 - 1000 miles $300.00
Over 1000 miles $500.00
These fees do not apply to One Way Rentals within the states of California or Florida.0 -
I'm not going to waste any more time on this. If you enter the OP requirements on the US rentacar site you get an inclusive quote; as previously stated.
This all reminds me of something to do with taking a horse to water.;)You don't stop laughing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop laughing" Large print giveth - small print taketh away. "0 -

You are missing the point
The OP's requirements:
San Fran is in California and Phoenix is in Arizona, therefore Us Rentacar will charge a ONE WAY FEE of $100 + taxes.Pick up San Francisco airport, Deposit Phoenix airport
Also they do not permit it for Economy cars.0 -

US Rentacar:_
Your search was based on the following criteria
Picking up from: (SFO) San Francisco International Airport, San Francisco, California on the 05/06/2009 at 10:00 and returning to (PHX) Phoenix International Airport, Phoenix, Rest of USA on 19/06/2009 at 10:00. The driver age is 30
Economy 2dr A/C - You can depend on this sporty Hyundai to deliver great mileage and safe con... 186.00
It seems therefore their quote is misleading and as a Company should be reported?

No because it is in their T&C's regarding one way rentals. Most rental agencies do this and hence catch a lot of people as I believe you would have to pay the one way rental when you pick up the car.
BTW
Their fee would be $300 + tax as SFO to PHX is 755 miles :eek:0 -
try national car hire we drove from chicago to las vegas and the drop off fee was only $199 the cheapest we could find for drop off fees0

Currently Us rentacar are offering FREE drop off between California and Arizona when hiring a Dollar car .

Thanks all
Happy_saver, my requirements as per my original post are to rent a car one way from SFO to PHX (incidentally from 21 June to 6 July) and to not have to worry about whether additional one-way fees are going to be charged when I get there. It goes without saying that I also want this as cheap as possible so this all has to be balanced to get the right company for me.
net-flights are the only reasonably priced company so far (although I'm still searching) that have catagorically stated in their ts and cs that a one way fee will NOT be charged between CA/NV/AZ. I have checked usrentacar and they only say that one-way charges will not apply between CA and FL. I cannot see anywhere on the website that there are no one-way fees between CA and AZ when using dollar, although perhaps you can point me to this?
They have a similar structure to holiday autos who had a fantastic price (£280) but no mention of one way fees. When I placed a reservation, I got an email back saying the one-way fee is $300+VAT. This is what I don't want to happen when I get to the states!!
Thanks for your investigations though! :T0 -

Just to re-iterate and confirm:
I have used Net-flights car hire for a SFO to PHX hire and was not charged a fee.0
