It's well seen that you've sorted out many a petty childish squabble
Yes it did come across as "putting the toys back in the pram!";)In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0

yes you right - unecessary. i've deleted my post.
those of you who criticised my post should really look around at the other posts that Downey and the other user names that she has uses post.
let's see if you have double standards or not.
I criticised both. Not double standards, here....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Except that Chucky posted a nasty little personal sleight about seperation/divorce whereas a44downey just ridiculed a stance being taken by other posters.
 Not comparable at all IMO.
As for chucky, his comments just get worse and worse. How much bottled up rage does that person have - it comes across so clearly in his posts.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0

Not strictly true I am afraid...the houses in my area which have seen the biggest drop (in the region of over 100K) ARE the most sought after nice houses.
Ok Sue time to give me facts on these ones look forward to be able to check them out.
One has just sold for full asking price in Beatrice Road, how do I know that? He is a mate.0

chucky, wouldn't your time be better mployed looking after the interests of the unfortunate tenants in your slum BTL properties. Rather than trolling on here 24/7? Just a thought0

It'll be interesting to see how the housing market reacts to the sea change that seems to have taken place in the stock market. I'm tentatively thinking that the bottom has been reached (in stocks) and that we are now seeing an upward trend.
Given that currently all the news is about banks going bust, house market crashing, pension values falling, recession about to start, job losses, etc. surely it's just about the perfect time to buy a house?
Once people pensions and investments start recovering and the other side of the recession is in sight, home owners will start feeling more secure and wealthier and won't be quite so desperate to sell.
It takes several months to find and buy a house, so people should be basing decisions not on how things look today, but how they will look 6 months hence.

They're not slum properties - IIRC he said he had a couple in Kensington and Notting Hill. Bought at the peak apparently.
Still, I think it explains why he is so 'touchy' about bearish discussion. That doesn't excuse his constant nasty little personal attacks though.--
