hello everyone,
I have never posted on the daily before, but I do lurk and feel like I am getting to know you all, so a big hello from me:wave: . I was hoping that one of you would be able to help me. I am looking for a recipe for dhansak curry sauce as I would like to make this from scratch and I wondered if one of you had one that you could recommend?
Thank you for your help.

Hi everyone and thanks for the good wishes for my mammogram, which went very well apart from freezing cold equipment! Mine were the first boobs of the day and nothing had been warmed up! Still, I'm very grateful for the regular checks; it only takes five minutes. So far I've had the pneumonia jab, a check at the asthma clinic - I don't have true asthma but I get wheezy so the doctor gives me inhalers, and the new one I've tried recently has put all my my peak flow rates up, which is good. I am also having my cholesterol and a lot of other things checked later this month so, with the mammogram today and the smear test earlier this year, I shall feel as if I've had an MOT.
My OS today - apart from cooking the stew - is the book I've just picked up at our new local market. It's called 'Waste Not Want Not' and the retail price was £9.99 but I only paid £1 - a real bargain. I shall read it later when I eat the KitKat I've just bought!
Well, I'd better go and prep for the stew.
Thanks also for the good wishes for work tomorrow! I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not!

Good morning all!
Slightly disappointed as was meant to be meeting a friend for shopping and gossip, but my car's not well so the lovely garage man is having a quick look at it for me later. Sorry again Kris if you're reading!
Anyway it meant that the house got a quick tidy and clean, not too much to do as got the kids to do some whilst I was at work last night! Other than that a friend whizzed in to show me how to put pics on facebook, hooray for someone with a little technical knowhow, my kids are fed up with me asking questions lol!
Lunch was pack ups for the kids, ham sarnies, must slice up the rest of the gammon, wasn't cool enough when I went to do it yesterday, choc muffins, apple, raisins, carrots and cheese. Mine will be something quick, prob soup from the freezer.
Dinner will be spag bol done in moski, will bung it all in later, nice and easy, must do some garlic rolls to go with it - perhaps it'll stop anyone talking to me at work tonight, people are already getting in a flap about Christmas decorations! Argh!
Welcome reformed, baby singing takes me back a bit, all the others used to join in beautifully, my dd2 would be doing laps of the room! Oh the joy of tinies!
Emmenelle - so long as your babe isn't sick for too long, I don't think you need to worry too much about food, so long as they're taking plenty of liquids, dehydration is the main concern. Give nhs direct a call if you don't want to phone your own doctor just yet. Hope the little one is better soon though. My ds was like something from the Exorcist when he was sick as a baby, projectile vomit didn't even begin to describe it! Apologies to anyone reading this whilst eating!
Kathy - good luck with the mammogram and hope work goes well tomorrow. Edit - glad it was ok, shame about the chill!
Ann - I actually had some home grown toms for my breakfast today! One plant still left in the garden and it was full of lovely golden toms, amazingly it is covered in flowers as well, about time too, cos it didn't do a lot in the summer, must be a late starter!
Candy - I'm sure your dd will get her revenge soon, or at least bump will when she makes her appearance!
Sybil - sc is great for beef, makes it really tender, and it doesn't need looking after either, which is why I like my sc so much! Hope your outing goes well, you are doing so brilliantly on getting out and about now.
Beth - don't wear yourself out so much that you're too tired for the weekend. We missed Saturday for the first time in years, Burnham was a bit of a wash out, few problems with the carts, so kids are going to see Weston on Monday, I shall be at work, so have volunteered their dad to take them!
Jackielesley - welcome! Think there are some good curry queen recipes for curries on the recipe thread, have a look at the bit above the os threads for the linky - sorry can't do them!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Morning all, been a good girl today and started to weed the front garden. Not sure what we will eat today...have some veg curry in the freezer, but must check the fridge to see what is lurking first. Could do with making a bit of cake i think.
My slicer is chewing my bread instead of slicing, so might get rid, Costs nearly £20 for a blade plus postage, so feeling that maybe we ought to manage without for the time being, as cash flow is tricky at the mo.
Still have a couple of things from shopping that need sorting, just remembered a chicken in the fridge and some carrots for soup for a party, will make and freeze.
Have a good day all. Lovely and sunny in the sitting room facing south, so sheets are over the rack in front of the glass doors."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Afternoon all!
Kiwichick and purpleprincess - Hi, glad to have you back with us
Thriftlady - I always seem to cry every year and this year every time they showed the clip of the three remaining WW! surviors I start to cry again.. We owe them so much
Elona, mioliere, Kaat, dorry, Hester, sybil, marie and mummysaver -all very much, you are all so lovely..x
Twink - it was my Aunty Sallys apple cake. Love that recipe!
Ivyleaf - hope all your little ones feel better soon, you certainly have your work cut out..
hester - I would ask to see another Dr at the practice. I love my Dr but my sister just doesn't get on with him so she sees someone else... and your Dr sounds particularly unhelpful.
Sguiggly - thanks honey!
Floss... you made me giggle
Sunny - because I was getting so tired, I now talk to my friend thu/fri/sat and sunday so those are the days I am more likely to start the thread off. This means the rest of the week my OH and I can actually go to bed at the same time! Oh and I do my shopping with ipoints/mysupermarket too and love it.
reformed -Oh and baby singing sounds soooo lovely.. tell us more!
Sybil - hugs and hope your afternoon out goes well
The fish pie wasn't made last night, we were both tired and ended up spending a £5 Iceland voucher I had on instant snacky buffet bits which we had with baked pots and baked beans.. I loved itBut today I am definately making the fish pie.
The trifle was a triumph and HUGE. Could feed about 10 easily :rotfl: :rotfl: I have to admit to a huge cheat - we had 2 pkts of tescos value instant custard which were about 7p each I think. So I made it up in the jug as they said, then added a couple of drops of vanilla extract and a spoonful of real custard powder and added more boiling water til it was the thickness I wanted. And it looks and tastes great! We used nearly 2 pints just to show how big the dish is, but I had a stale flan case which I cut up for the base and it worked really well.
Chicken dhansak recipe which looks really easy -

Afternoon all.
Didn’t get online yesterday, so am ploughing through what I’ve missed.
Pippa S Happy Belated Birthday
Sybil When a friend gave me a large carrier bag of wool, I knitted squares to make up into blankets (yes, several!) for a local animal charity. They were well pleased.
Diva I hope Treacle is OK.
I was supposed to have a meds check yesterday, Mr LW had the day off specially, but the GP surgery cancelled. I now have to go on 21st and see a different Dr from my usual. It's still a woman GP, but nevertheless I am scared, scared, scared!
Anyway, as the day was already booked, we spent it catching up on stuff here - had the lawnmower in pieces in the kitchen, Mr LW sharpened the blades, and I had all the small bits in the sink and Stardropped them (see - an OS bit!:D ) and he wiped all the moving bits with an oily rag, so we can put it away for the winter. He even hoovered the shed floor while he was at it!:p Then he replaced the drive belt on the food processor which had started slipping. Even though it's an obsolete model, Kenwood still had the drive belts in stock, which was lucky.
He's got a week off at beginning Dec, to use up his leave entitlement, so I've suggested that we treat it like a self-catering holiday in Milton Keynesand look for inexpensive (and wheelchair friendly) places of interest that we'd have overlooked simply because they're local. Hmm..... I feel a Google coming on....

Snap! I've also got a chilli plant full of flowers, which will be coming inside tomorrow when I re-fleece the bay tree after the last few days of strong winds.
Am all set for making frozen fruit jam & Delia's Christmas puddings tomorrow, Nigella's cakes are done & will need a feed at the weekend
Must dash, lunch break is over!

We often do that, it means we get to see the local attractions! I was wondering about a Cains brewery tour in Liverpool for me & OH for his December birthday - have you got any local breweries that would be suitable for your access?0
