You don't need a mains adaptor as you can charge it from your computer via the supplied usb cable.

Not 100% certain but I think I read that the software update that this comes with isn't the same one that Apple is charging for. It asked if I wanted to purchase an update when I registered mine but I went ahead and registered it without buying it and it seems to do everything I need it to do so far.

    Hey there :)

Jailbreaking the iPod Touch is a phrase that many think is crazy, but basically the term doesnt mean breaking the ipod. :p Basically all you do is download a software (I wont name it here, but a google search on jailbreak should get it) follow the instructions and your ipod will be modified to accept third party applications.. everything will work the same, nothing gets removed - its a win win situation, some third party apps I have installed which Apple would never accept onto their Appstore allows me to Watch Live TV, Scrobble my songs to Last.fm and Download YouTube videos directly through the ipod to the Videos folder. But obviously, if you are happy with the features that the touch has already, you do not need to jailbreak.

You do not need an AC Adaptor, you charge through the USB port on your PC but you can buy an AC adaptor and have it charge through the plugs. Hooking it up to a stereo is easy when you use a AV Composite cable which also can be purchased seperately.

You can really put anything onto the ipod, even if it is a file that the ipod does not support, iTunes will usually convert it for you into a readable file for the ipod. Let's put it this way.. half of the mp3's on my iPod havent been bought from iTunes.. accept the 100 iTunes downloads win that I won through here a few weeks ago :p

The Free Update that is included is the 'January Update' which is the Mail, Stocks, Maps and Weather features. Unfortunetly this does not include the 2.0 Update which has the Appstore, you need to buy this on iTunes for £5.99.

Yes Apple are trying to charge £5.99 for a update when Argos states it come with software update

I am not happy with itune when you register the ipod you have to submit your card details/address etc. I have no intention of buying anything from apple. I rip my own stuff from cd's that way I can vary the quality of often inferor mp3 bitrate
