gas meter

It obviously isn't right, and the meter appears to be faulty.
Why not estimate your bills at, say, £60 a month and put it in a savings account.
Alternatively write to them and make a big fuss that they are not charging you enough - they will probably ignore your letter.0 -
Well you probably didn't use any heating in August!
My last bill was for 22 units (248.63Kwh) and that was based on an estimated latest reading. This was for the 3 months ending end of August. Checking the meter today, I've still not got to that latest meter reading they estimated (but with the colder weather it is now approaching it rapidly!)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
thanks everybody
no further forward but i appreciate your help.

cant believe i said that but what does a good christian boy do?
thing is though i bet they wouldnt ring me if i was being over charged.
there lies my dilema and it could be possible that we are paying the right amount couldnt it?

just check the units used yourself for a week and then make your mind up whether to contact them or not
we use about 28 a weekremember it is nice to be important
but more important to be nice0 -
Buy a second gas meter and have it fitted in series with your existing one?0

They almost certainly wouldnt do anything about it if you tried to bring it to their attention. It costs energy boards £200+ to test your meter they normaly pass on between £60 to £100 pounds of this charge to the customer. (refundable if meter is faulty)
I know that at British Gas if a customer has a meter that starts passing unregistered gas or electricity, they will calculate usage based on when there were last accurate/correct readings. But i really dont feel like this would ever catch up with you, given that this is a brand new meter.... I would just enjoy the free ride!Sunny in Southampton.0 -
My brother had a meter exactly the same as that some years ago, he lived next door to me in exactly the same size house yet his bills were a tenth of mine! We even set our time clocks for heating and hot water to exactly the same, my meter was whizzing round and his was hardly moving? It must be a faulty meter but that is their problem not yours. Eventually after 3 years they changed his meter and his bills were on a par with mine, they never questioned it. I would say enjoy a nice warm cheap winter as you are doing nothing wrong0
