  • Since underfloor heating is background in nature (ie: it can't give an instant response should you need it, I would say you need to leave it at a constant 18-20C all the time and as low as is comfortable within this range. As long as the thermostat is in the house and not influenced by the conservatory, like being in the room in the house opening out into the conservatory and you leave the french doors open!) costs should not be more excessive than having it just in the house.

If your electric bill is going up £50 a MONTH, then that seems alot to me.
Electric underfloor heating is more expensive to run than wet, but you must know that when you installed it.
I suppose quick a question, did you insulate under the floor properly? Not sure what the up to date regs and advice is, but I know its a good bit of insulation is needed.
Other than that try keeping the thermostat to 18 degrees during the day and lower at night.
Actually I'm not sure if its better to keep electric unfloor heating on a constant temp all the time, or lower it at night. With my parents in laws wet system, the heat is lowered at night, I'm guessing yours (electric bill) would be better if you do the same. Maybe if you have E7 as you say, you could boost the heat an hour or two before the E7 goes off.

If you can afford and want to keep the room at 18-20 degrees all the time, then carry on, I couldn't afford £50 a month on top of my electric bill.

My advice would be to try different ways of heating over a few days and note down the electric used on each day, you should start to see a pattern, as long as the temp outside stays about the same and the sun shines the same amount, Mmmm I'm starting to see a difficulty with this one.
Sorry I couldn't be more help.
