Yes you can cook gammon in the SC with some sliced onion and apple juice or cider (or stock if you prefer).

With feta cheese I would use it to make a dip or sauce.

I have a gammon in my slow cooker right now. Try 4 hours on high or 8 on low, plenty of water. I always use a meat thermometer to make sure things are cooked.

So have your gammon with a greek salad?
  • I only cook gammon in SC now! Nomally use watered down apple juice or stout/bitter etc. Slow cook for about 6hrs......delicious:D

  • Gammon and Coca Cola. Never thought of that. Yeah. Things really do go better with Coke. Beer goes with gammon, too.
Gammon can also be cooked in a pressure cooker.
Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

Sorry to be a bit thick but would this work with thick gammon steaks as well as a gammon joint? I've only just got my slow cooker but I LOVE it and want to use it more. DD's actually begged for seconds of the stewing steak I did and then asked if I'd cook pork chops/steaks in there next time we had them as it made "everything yummy". Any good receipes for pork chops?
  • I put just enough water in the Sc to cover the bottom of the crockpot - my gammon wasn't smoked, then washed the meat over and popped it in - gorgeous!

I hope it works because I've got a small gammon joint in my slowcooker right now :)

I just put it in about 2 pts of water with a chopped up onion, carrot and the bone out of yesterday's turkey thigh for a bit of flavour. Does anyone know if the resulting juices can be used as stock for soup, or will they be too salty? It's a salted gammon.
