Ask Martin! He, is the Expert after all, and he probably done the same as the rest of us - read up on it!

Martin is a journalist with a big website. That doesn't make him necessarily an expert in anything.

I don't doubt his motives and agree that he may well know his stuff on a lot of matters, but if you read his disclaimers he is very careful to distance himself from actually giving financial advice.
    Smarty Arsey.....

From you.....I'll take that as a compliment :p

Someone just posted 'elsewhere' that the Rankines have had their claims management authorization cancelled by the Ministry of Justice.

    And it is true. :)

Yes, I've just added a similar note to another thread. Can't believe it took so long to be honest.

Without wanting to be pedantic, The sole reason Martin distances himself from actually giving financial advice is beacuse, as you point out, he is a Journalist and NOT a fully qualified Independent Financial Advisor.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

You could get a loan with British Gas a few years back (3-4)

The only thing you are victorious in is not answering questions. I asked you to show me any person forced into borrowing money from a bank. I also asked for proof you have helped make a loan unenforceable.

The 'proof' you gave is someone who wanted a loan and was offered more than they asked for, and a default removal by British Gas, who, as far as I know, are not a bank and don't offer loans.

Facts don't lie, so supply us the facts you rely on to back up your arguments.

Funnily enough, on page one of this thread is a note about forced into taking a loan:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1808587

Note: The word force doesn't necessarily mean held a gun to their head - it's referred to in the context of 'being bullied into' or 'persuaded into'.

The Rankines loans that were 'written off' are found here: http://www.creditcardkiller.co.uk/our_successes.php

Shame the same cannot be said about his over inflated ego.

My ego is fine. When people with few posts start being abusive, of the few posts none are helping others, then I will tell you to shove it. Love it or hate it, the facts speak for themselves. The majority of my posts leave people saying 'thanks' in reply - whilst some of the idiots i'm wasting my time with on here simply abuse other users.

As I say, my ego is fine, as is my reputation. When you earn the same level of reputation then I may consider your points.
