Hi,
Can anyone help...
I have an old laptop with vista business software installed.
I want to transfer old files to my new laptop which has also vista installed.
I purchased a easy transfer cable from maplins and went through the easy transfer wizard. Then it tells me to insert the cable between the two laptops, which i do, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS??
It also mentions about installing the cd/dvd if vista is not installed on the computer?
1. I had no cd/dvd with the cable.
2. vista is installed on both laptops so theres no need for the cd...
ANY KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS???
ALL I WANT TO DO, IS TRANSFER OLD FILES TO MY NEW LAPTOP USING THE CABLE.
THANKS
PAUL

Says this version of updat.exe is not compatable with the version of windows i am running? (vista). check to see if you need a 32 or 64 bit version of the programme???
WHATS THIS MEAN?0 -
make sure you have the correct cable. you need a crossover cable.
then you need to tell vista to share the files.

Try a different usb port , you may be using the slowest port hence a lower voltage for correct file transfer. Also some cables are not compatible in a 64 bit system.Always follow the path of least resistance.0

You could send the files over a network if both pcs are wirelessAlways follow the path of least resistance.0

Or just plug in a USB external HDD? Im guessing you have a fair amount of data, which is why the USb stick got full. You could use the usb stick and put the files into batches of no more than 4gb and do them one by one if you cant get the cable working and dont have an external HDD.0
