As Evab says, sympathies to you on trying to resolve the situation which shouldn't be difficult to bottom out if people could set aside the time; are they really so busy as to be unable to do so?

Could you call a specific meeting with everyone and get the information then?

Yes they are busy... but its also that I'm fairly unimportant a person in the general scheme of things in the department so easy to NOT prioritise. :mad: My boss also is not the best at applying the appropriate pressure to remind them it IS a priority. :rolleyes: I don't think it is meant maliciously... it just escapes their mind... A meeting between them all is unlikely - It most recently took my boss 5 weeks to get an appointment with our lab manager at a time they could both make... add another busy Prof to that they it'd be after Xmas time! :rolleyes:

It doesn't help that there has been un unofficial ban on Part-time PhDs in the dept for years as our head of dept wasn't keep on them as a result of previous problems. We recently changed head of dept so I was hoping the policy had changed but there still seems to be resistance... despite them advertising on the Uni website the posibility of doing a part-time PhD here! :rolleyes:

We have a building-wide open day for potential PhD students in a week and a half so I will be going all out to get the info I need before then. Some people are going to get VERY sick of me this week! :rotfl: If that fails then I make them all have to do at least 4 times the work and just blooming well apply without the necessary approvals in place. :eek:
