Dishwasher update... I have survived so far and its almost ready to use. :j I just need to find a knife sharp enough to cut the end off the connector thingy (the technical term!) that the dishwasher waste tube connects to on my sink as its obviously never been used and is still sealed! So far finding a sharp DIY knife seems to be the hardest part - looks like my stanley knife needs new blades! Emergency call has been made to my brother who lives 2 mins away in the hope he has one but as he usually "borrows" my/my parents tools its not looking good... A trip to homebase may be necessary. :rolleyes:Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

I finally found a junior hacksaw so used that instead
, installed a hose clip filled all the different bits and finally ~9:30pm last night I ran a test soak program. No signs of leaks :j though its a bit noisier than I thought it would be. I also discovered that turning the cold tap on at my kitchen sink and having the tap to the dishwasher on at the same time = crap water pressure from the kitchen tap... Oh the joys of the random plumbing in this flat!
Just about to go home to try to fix my (home) computer firewall... :wall: Its not allowed to die just before I have 2.5 weeks off work - what would I do with myself without MSE?? :eek:Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Oh blimey... I haven't posted on this for a while! It was languishing on page 4 of my subscriptions! Oooooops!
Xmas and New Year seems eons ago now... I'm definitely back in work mode but very much looking forwards to Canada now - less than 2 weeks to go! Looks like we will have a couple of days free around the conference so I will get a wee bit of attempted [STRIKE]ski-ing [/STRIKE] falling in snow time and exploring the area time. :j
Financial stuff...
November 2008
Mortgage £46,547.26
ISA 2008-9 £758-92 saved so far
Jan 2009
Mortgage £46396
ISA 2008-9 £2014
... there are some pence too but I can't remember them- I'm at work at the mo so can't check.
I'm in theory on target to fill my 08/09 ISA before the end of the tax year but its really going to depend on how much I spend in Canada. I do have a holiday budget but it was geared towards having the pennies in place for a summer trip rather than a trip so early in the year. The flights and accomodation are paid for but I still need to find spends. I don't think the £160 I have in my holiday fund will get me too far
I signed up for the £4k challenge (on DFW) at £5k for everything except transport to work, mortgage payments and associated insurances, council tax and holidays. So far so good except I seem to have bought 7 pairs of shoes/boots in the past 2 weeks!! Oooooops!! Some are going to have to go back!Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Good work!
Enjoy Canada too (but I would be "shocked" at my staff using a business trip to then enjoy themselves!Surely you mean "networking" not skiing and sight-seeing???)

Yep - lots of networking and team building WILL actually be happening as it looks to be a really interesting workshop but it was actually my boss and other senior people going who decided we'd be going out for as long as we are! I think it worked out cheaper to stay out slightly longer than strictly necessary when looking at flights v hotel costs after the conference! (I think perhaps the bosses want to [strike]go ski-ing[/strike] carry out extra networking!) :shhh: :rotfl:

Good to see you've now got the correct terminology in place, this should avoid any embarrassing comments once back on relating to colleagues what took place :rotfl:
We are "requested" to stay over a Saturday long-haul to reduce the airfares even though it's economy anyway ; for me it usually works well as I catch up on the Sunday (heading west over the Atlantic of course) on items for the meetings that coming week and to attempt to get on local time (a killer if you get up at 0500GMT as you are wide awake at midnight CST!).
If I'm out for two weeks though then I try to set out on the Sunday of the first weekend instead.0
