I very much hope you resolve the situation with Egg; the experiences you and Gallygirl have reported makes me a bit cautious about using them for savings in future.
Well as long as you don't change current accounts you'll be fine. This is the 1st problem I've had and I'm not impressed at all...I'll try not to mention interest rates to you in future, but, recall the reason you went for the fix originally as no one could have predicted these present rates. Our rates in the mid 1990s were around 8.5-9% if that makes you feel better.
Don't worry - I made my decisions for valid reasons at the time and now have to live with them... At least I have a flat for the cost of my mortgage - what I pay roughly equates to a rented room in a shared flat here! My 1st ever mortgage in 1994 (at the tender age of 18  - I've never rented anywhere other than uni halls) was a 8.5% fix, I think, which was scary at the time. Mind you MIRAS was still around to help a bit...
Christmas a your place sounds like it will be a "close" affair and I'm sure all will pitch in and bring the odd folding chair or similar if asked.Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Taka / gallygirl,
You both on commission for smiley's used, or you both just having a mini-competition...?:rotfl:
I've only changed my main current account once - from NatWest to Nationwide. I had the offer of a switching service, but did it all myself.
I knew exactly where I was, the minimum balanced needed for each account, what I'd switched and what was outstanding etc. Sounds like you're getting far too much grief.
Was with NatWest for about 18-20 years. Not sure customer service is forefront any more - profits, profits, profits.

Ohhhhh it looks like egg have finally got their act together and set up the DD with the right details! :j It just needs to show on my current account and I'll believe it! Only other thing outstanding was a charity DD due today but I've already contacted them and sorted that out... Happy, happy days! :j
After all the stress and anger of the last few days I spent part of last night doing mindful meditation and I now feel vastly more relaxed! I also spent part of the evening updating all the interest rates on my various accounts in quicken. Its making mighty depressing reading...
Ohhhh apparently there is gluwein drinking happening soon here... I love my work sometimes! What is German for cheers?
(PS Sorry FB... there were only 3 in this post... )Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Well the gluwein (sp?) was yummy as was the free wine and other spiced winter drinks! Oh and half a ton of gingerbread/mince pies/stollen etc! Oooops!
Well I've just been rather naughty - I've just bought my first dishwasher! I just need to learn how to plumb the thing in! I have a cold tap, electrical socket, odd looking waste tube attachment and a space in my kitchen that has obviously had one before (currently a large but mainly empty wine rack) so I'm hoping its all ok... I guess I'll find out in about a week!
Oh I also bought the pirates of the caribbean box set... yummy (Its all your fault setmefree2... all that drooling over Johnny Depp on your thread... :rotfl: ) I've still not bought anyone elses Xmas pressies - just lots for me!!Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Nothing much to report this week - money seems to be leaking from my bank account at high speed but I'm still in budget. (Just!) Not sure how next week will go... a bunch of presents still to get and too many work Xmas parties! That reminds me... I need to add paracetamol to my shopping list...
Only 5 days of work to go before Xmas then I'm off until the 5th Jan.
Woo Hoo!! My shiny new dishwasher has just arrived! :j Now to try and plumb it in! Ermmmmmmmm....
I'm going in... someone call the search party/plumber/fire brigade if I'm not heard from for a while... :rotfl:Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
